Down the TBR Hole #1

Featured image here

Hello all! How are you this Monday? I’m kind of tired and my seasonal allergies were really acting up this morning but I’m fine. I hope you had a good weekend! Nothing exciting happened around here so let’s just jump right into this post, shall we?

I’ve seen the Down the TBR Hole posts soo often recently and with it being spring and spring cleaning and all I decided that it was time for me to follow suit. I have 327 books on my GoodReads TBR shelf. ๐Ÿ˜ฑ That’s wayyy too many and, let’s face it. that’s just not going to happen in this lifetime. So, let’s get to it!

Down The TBR Hole is a meme created by Lisa at lost in a story that revolves around cleansing your TBR of all those books youโ€™re never going to read and sort through it all to know whatโ€™s actually on there.

The Rules:

  • Go to your Goodreads to-read shelf.
  • Order on ascending date added.
  • Take the first 5 (or 10 (or even more!) if youโ€™re feeling adventurous) books. Of course, if you do this weekly, you start where you left off the last time.
  • Read the synopses of the books
  • Decide: keep it or should it go?

Station Eleven

by Emily St. John Mandel

I actually just bought this, a couple of weeks ago. Definitely not going off the TBR.

Verdict: Keep

One Hundred Years of Solitude

by Gabriel Garcรญa Mรกrquez, Gregory Rabassa (Translator)

I think I’m going to ditch this classic. I’m not really a classics reader. I just don’t think this one is for me.

Verdict: Go

The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich: A History of Nazi Germany

by William L. Shirer

Will you just look at the size of this thing!!! ๐Ÿ˜ณ What was I thinking when I added this brick?! ๐Ÿ˜‚ Sorry my friends but 1614 pages about WWII is just not going to happen for me.

Verdict: Goooooo

Freethinkers: A History of American Secularism

by Susan Jacoby

I’m torn on this one. On one hand, I feel like it would be an interesting read but on the other hand, I’m not really interested in history books. I think I’ll take this off my TBR for now and if I’m ever in the mood for it (which will probably never happen), I’ll pick it up.

Verdict: Go

Extreme Scientists: Exploring Nature’s Mysteries from Perilous Places

by Donna M. Jackson

Looking at this, I think I may have added it for my kids. I’m not sure but it looks interesting and I will kewp this one.

Verdict: Keep

Salt: A World History

by Mark Kurlansky

I think I added this when the movie, of the same name, was coming out. I guess, I thought that the movie was based off of a book. This, on the other hand, is not that and is actually just the history of salt. No thank you.

Verdict: Go

Final verdict: 4/6 removed.

Me after removing all those books I won’t read! Image

That feels sooo good! Kind of like when I watch like 20 book unhauls! ๐Ÿ˜‚ I feel like all right with the world. Then, I realize that I still have 323 book on my GR TBR shelf.

March TBR

First post here ๐Ÿ˜ฐ lol As the title says I’m posting my TBR in this post. I have a freakin’ lofty TBR this month ๐Ÿ˜ฌ I’m participating in a Buzzwordathon this month so that increased my TBR by 6 books, whew.

There are six different words for the Buzzwordathon. They’re who, what, where, when, why and how.

For the word who, I am reading I Am Malala: The Girl Who Stood Up For Education And Was Shot By The Taliban by Malala Yousafzai

What: What Light by Jay Asher

When: When Dimple Met Rishi by Sandhya Menon

Where: This Is Where It Ends by Marieke Nijkamp

Why: Why Not Me? by Mindy Kaling

How: How To Love by Katie Cutugno

I also checked out Danielle Steel’s book Happy Birthday because my birthday is this month.

I got Black Girls Must Die Exhausted from NetGalley.

And the rest are determined by what holds I get available from my local library. ๐Ÿ˜

Well, that’s the end of my TBR list. What’s on your TBR for March?
