Currently reading:

So, it’s #Smutathon week, ya’ll, and this is my second book for this readathon. I’m only 42 pages in but so far, so good. I’m liking it!

Synopsis:
Nya Jerami fled Thesolo for the glitz and glamour of NYC but discovered that her Prince Charming only exists in her virtual dating games. When Nya returns home for a royal wedding, she accidentally finds herself up close and personal—in bed—with the real-life celebrity prince who she loves to hate.

For Johan von Braustein, the red-headed step-prince of Liechtienbourg, acting as paparazzi bait is a ruse that protects his brother—the heir to the throne—and his own heart. When a royal referendum threatens his brother’s future, a fake engagement is the perfect way to keep the cameras on him.

Nya and Johan both have good reasons to avoid love, but as desires are laid bare behind palace doors, they must decide if their fake romance will lead to a happily-ever-after.

Just read:

My first smutathon read and I just finished this last night and omg it is soo good! An easy 5⭐ read for me.

Synopsis:
Hotel chain mogul Sol DuMont is about to learn that some of life’s biggest surprises come in deceptively small packages—namely a petite heiress named Rain who’s hell-bent on upsetting her family’s expectations—in this first book in the all new series by Thea de Salle, set against the sultry backdrop of New Orleans.

Thirty-seven-year-old Sol DuMont is a divorcee and the owner of a mid-sized hotel chain in New Orleans. Since Hurricane Katrina, his father’s death, and the decision that he and his ex-wife Maddy are far better off friends than lovers, he’s lost interest in almost everything he held dear—parties, people, and pushing limits.

All his limits.

Then Arianna Barrington checks into his hotel.

Twenty-four-year-old Arianna “Rain” Barrington could have been society’s sweetheart. Her family is moneyed, connected press darlings, and make sweeping headlines from coast to coast for reasons both good and bad. But when her mother shoves her at Charles Harwood—the obnoxious, entitled heir of Harwood Corp—to cement a billion-dollar business merger, Rain does the only thing she can think of to escape: she creates a scandal so big Harwood doesn’t want her anymore before fleeing to New Orleans for much-needed rest and relaxation.

All she wants is jazz piano, beignets, and to sail the Mississippi. What she gets is Sol DuMont, a whirlwind affair, and a hands-on education in sex, power play, and pushing limits.

All her limits.

Another smuathon read. This one is for the fake dating and host’s fave prompts.

Synopsis:

She’s addicted to sex. He’s addicted to booze…the only way out is rock bottom.

No one would suspect shy Lily Calloway’s biggest secret. While everyone is dancing at college bars, Lily stays in the bathroom. To get laid. Her compulsion leads her to one-night stands, steamy hookups and events she shamefully regrets. The only person who knows her secret happens to have one of his own.

Loren Hale’s best friend is his bottle of bourbon. Lily comes at a close second. For three years, they’ve pretended to be in a real relationship, hiding their addictions from their families. They’ve mastered the art of concealing flasks and random guys that filter in and out of their apartment.

But as they sink beneath the weight of their addictions, they cling harder to their destructive relationship and wonder if a life together, for real, is better than a lie. Strangers and family begin to infiltrate their guarded lives, and with new challenges, they realize they may not just be addicted to alcohol and sex.

Their real vice may be each other.

New Adult Romance recommended for readers 18+ for mature content

And that’s all of my three W questions and answers. What are you reading? Any of the same books that I’m reading?

Currently reading: I'm reading Real World by Natsuo Kirino and I'm reading this for the #asianreadathon (@asianreadathon). I'm also reading a graphic novel for my #YARC2019 reading challenge.

I'm on page 53 in Real World and, honestly, I'm not loving it. It is a thriller set in Toyko though and I'm excited to finish it. Hopefully, it picks up soon!

I'm only on page 9 in Persepolis but it is a graphic novel so it should be a pretty fast read.

I'm also just starting A Thousand Beginnings and Endings, which isn't pictured, for another one of my #asianreadathon challenges.

Currently reading:

I’m reading We Set the Dark on Fire by Tehlor May Mejia. I’m only on page 30 so I can’t say too much about it except that I like it so far. I’m also reading Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn. I’m on page 77 of this one and what’s really aggravating me about this is the graphic descriptions of dead/slaughtered animals. I understand that it’s supposed to add to the creepy atmosphere and vibe but it really off-putting and kind of makes me not want to continue on in the book.

Just finished:

I just finished The Handmaid’s Tale: The Graphic Novel by Reneé Nault (Adapter, Artist), Margaret Atwood

This was so good and the artwork is stunning! Be on the lookout for a review soon!

What’s next:

I just picked these two up from the library and I need to read these so I can return them.

I like to go into books pretty blind so I don’t really know too much about either of these but I’m in the mood for some romance and I think Rayne & Delilah’s Midnite Matinee by Jeff Zentner will give me just what I’m looking for. Also, the author lives in my hometown and I’ve heard really good reviews for his other books. I’m excited to get to this!

I’m also participating in the #asianreadathon (I will leave links below) this month for Asian Pacific American Heritage Month. I’m also participating in the Year of the Asian Reading Challenge hosted, here, by The Quiet Pond. So, for at least one of those challenges, I picked up A Very Large Expanse of Sea by Tahereh Mafi. I’ve heard good reviews for this one so I’m really excited to get to this one as well.

Hello and welcome to WWW Wednesday!

One quick thing before we get into the WWW Wednesday post. If you’ve been here before you’ll notice that I changed my theme and added some new gadgets over there on the right hand side (for desktop/laptop users at least). How do you like the new theme and buttons? I’m super stoked about them! Anyway, on to the post!

This meme was formerly hosted by MizB at A Daily Rhythm and revived by Sam at Taking on a World of Words that answers three (W) questions.

~What are you currently reading?
~ What did you recently finish reading?
~What do you think you’ll read next?

Currently reading: I just finished a book a day ago so I’m still trying to decide. Help me decide! 😂 Anyway, here’s my potential (soon-to-be) current read. I really need to read Sharp Objects because I’m actually doing a buddy read but they all just sound sooo interesting and I want to read them all at once! 😂🤷‍♀️

Recently finished: I just finished We Are the Ants by Shaun David Hutchinson. I gave this book 55 stars. I really loved this book but if you are in any way sensitive to topics like suicide, bullying or rape/attempted rape then I suggest you take those things into account if you want to read this book.

Synopsis: Henry Denton has spent years being periodically abducted by aliens. Then the aliens give him an ultimatum: The world will end in 144 days, and all Henry has to do to stop it is push a big red button.

Only he isn’t sure he wants to.

After all, life hasn’t been great for Henry. His mom is a struggling waitress held together by a thin layer of cigarette smoke. His brother is a jobless dropout who just knocked someone up. His grandmother is slowly losing herself to Alzheimer’s. And Henry is still dealing with the grief of his boyfriend’s suicide last year.

Wiping the slate clean sounds like a pretty good choice to him.

But Henry is a scientist first, and facing the question thoroughly and logically, he begins to look for pros and cons: in the bully who is his perpetual one-night stand, in the best friend who betrayed him, in the brilliant and mysterious boy who walked into the wrong class. Weighing the pain and the joy that surrounds him, Henry is left with the ultimate choice: push the button and save the planet and everyone on it…or let the world—and his pain—be destroyed forever.

Next read: Lol I really have no idea! It will definitely have to be one of the books pictured under my currently reading section because those are all library books and I have to return them at some point, right? Again, help me choose!

Alright, that concludes this WWW Wednesday. What book(s) are you currently reading? Any you would like to talk about or recommend?
