Hey yāall! šš» Happy Tuesday! Today Iām going to be talking about a few of my most anticipated books this year. Let’s jump right in!
Why am I excited?
This is the second book from Erin Morgenstern. Her last one was 8 years ago, in 2011. Her last book was The Night Circus and I really liked this book so Iām excited to read another book by this author.
Synopsis:
Zachary Ezra Rawlins is a graduate student in Vermont when he discovers a strange book hidden in the library stacks. As he turns the pages, entranced by tales of lovelorn prisoners, key collectors, and nameless acolytes, he reads something strange: a story from his own childhood. Bewildered by this inexplicable book and desperate to make sense of how his own life came to be recorded, Zachary uncovers a series of clues ā a bee, a key, and a sword ā that lead him to a masquerade party in New York, to a secret club, and through a doorway to a subterranean library, hidden far below the surface of the earth.
What Zachary finds in this curious place is more than just a buried home for books and their guardians ā it is a place of lost cities and seas, lovers who pass notes under doors and across time, and of stories whispered by the dead. Zachary learns of those who have sacrificed much to protect this realm, relinquishing their sight and their tongues to preserve this archive, and also those who are intent on its destruction. Together with Mirabel, a fierce, pink-haired protector of the place, and Dorian, a handsome barefoot man with shifting alliances, Zachary travels the twisting tunnels, darkened stairwells, crowded ballrooms, and sweetly soaked shores of this magical world, discovering his purpose ā in both the mysterious book and in his own life.
Why am I excited?
This is also the second book by this author, Angie Thomas. I read Angie Thomasā first book The Hate U Give and absolutely LOVED it. Even though Iāve only read one of her books I think she will easily be one of my favorite authors.
Synopsis:
Sixteen-year-old Bri wants to be one of the greatest rappers of all time. Or at least make it out of her neighborhood one day. As the daughter of an underground rap legend who died before he hit big, Briās got big shoes to fill. But now that her mom has unexpectedly lost her job, food banks and shutoff notices are as much a part of Briās life as beats and rhymes. With bills piling up and homelessness staring her family down, Bri no longer just wants to make itāshe has to make it.
On the Come Up is Angie Thomasās homage to hip-hop, the art that sparked her passion for storytelling and continues to inspire her to this day. It is the story of fighting for your dreams, even as the odds are stacked against you; of the struggle to become who you are and not who everyone expects you to be; and of the desperate realities of poor and working-class black families.
Why am I excited?
Iām excited for this book because I read the first book of this series, Year One, and really liked it as well. Iām excited to read the rest of this series.
Synopsis:
The first battle is already over, but the big fight for good and evil is yet to come: The young Fallon leads their army to Washington D.C., to drive the black magic out of the world. She is the chosen one to rebuild the world after the apocalypse and unite her inhabitants. There is a great burden on the young woman, because the family of her father’s murderer seeks revenge on her and her sweetheart. But Fallon’s mission is now easier than the interpretation of her feelings for Duncan, whose fate is inevitably tied to hers.
Why am I excited?
I LOOVE this trilogy! This is my favorite series and I canāt wait to read this book! Also, just look at how beautiful that cover is!! š
Synopsis:
Welcome, welcome to Caraval…all games must come to an end.
Itās been two months since the last Caraval concluded, two months since the Fates have been freed from an enchanted deck of cards, two months since Tella has seen Legend, and two months since Legend claimed the empireās throne as his own. Now, Legend is preparing for his official coronation and Tella is determined to stop it. She believes her own mother, who still remains in an enchanted sleep, is the rightful heir to the throne.
Meanwhile, Scarlett has started a game of her own. Sheās challenged Julian and her former fiancĆ©, Count Nicolas dāArcy, to a competition where the winner will receive her hand in marriage. Finaly, Scarlett feels as if she is in complete control over her life and future. She is unaware that her motherās past has put her in the greatest danger of all.
Caraval is over, but perhaps the greatest game of all has begunāwith lives, empires, and hearts all at stake. There are no spectators this time: only those who will win…and those who will lose everything. . .
Why am I excited?
This is Margaret Atwoodās sequel to The Handmaidās Tale. Although, I havenāt read The Handmaidās Tale, yet, Iām excited for this book and plan to read it before this one comes out.
Synopsis:
The wait is over.
And so I step up, into the darkness within; or else the light.
When the van door slammed on Offredās future at the end of The Handmaidās Tale, readers had no way of telling what lay ahead for her ā freedom, prison or death.
With The Testaments, the wait is over.
Margaret Atwoodās sequel picks up the story 15 years after Offred stepped into the unknown, with the explosive testaments of three female narrators from Gilead.
And those are some of my most anticipated books for this year. Are any of these on your most anticipated book list this year? Hope yāall had a good weekend! šš»
